monta releases their debut album, unsuspecting,
on their own montamusic imprint. and now unfoundsound
offers a sweet follow-up to this melancholic, multi-genre release. foundsound
co-founder, cyhl (a.k.a. fusiphorm)
-- already a pal to the kansas city duo (and a vocoder-loving french guy)
-- decided to take a stab at remixing one of the tracks on the album just
for kicks. cyhl and friends were pleased with the end
result, which prompted the idea for this remix ep on unfoundsound.
the original version is a dark, ultra-melodic tune shaped for laid-back
groovin'. butane and newcomer diss0nance
each rework the track into quirky, minimal dancefloor killers. fusiphorm's
remix bumps softly through pleasantly gloomy textures and shadowy reverbs.
ezekiel honig re-sculpts the track into his own gentle,
snippy, slow-tapping blanket of überbliss. and miguel tutera's
version stays true to the original while maintaining a loopy, jazzy, near-ambient
groove.
