at last, the debut ep from foundsound/unfoundsound
co-founder fusiphorm (a.k.a. cyhl).
as of late, this french lad has been quietly pumping out a plentitude
of dark and haunting minimal tracks in his home studio. (expect vinyl
releases from fusiphorm on plong! and foundsound
in late 2005.) maintaining a groovy, spooked-out vibe, the ep is aptly
titled "the beast". each track blends into the next carrying
you through a continuous journey. you move into a large city for the first
time and relish in that initial excitement ("follow the beast"),
then after time you feel caught in the grip of oppression ("tracked
by the beast"), and finally clashing feelings prevail leading to
a brutal end to your city living ("beastification"). (Also note
that "beastification" was constructed entirely with field recordings
from fidget's unfields01--the first
in a series of free downloads located in the "unfields" section
of the unfoundsound website.) plus, you get two remixes:
an irresistible, feelin'-oh-so-good minimal tech-house throbber from philly's
underscore, and kansas city's monta
rounds off the ep with a soothing, ultra-heady, pleasantly beatless ambient
rework.
